Description

Two nights of HOO on the Little Dumbell Nebula is Perseus (M 76). This planetary nebula glows bright in Oiii. The Oiii signal is stronger than Ha.

I understand that this is one of the most difficult Messier objects to see visually. It is small at only about 2.7 by 1.8 arc minutes with an apparent magnitude of about 10.

Five minute exposures. The center area can get easily blown out so I used careful GHS stretching followed by HdrMultiscaleTransform. Colors and clarity were enhanced using LR.
